Phnom Srorng

I’ve heard about Phnom Srorng long time ago, but I’ve never been there. Last Sunday, my friend and I decided to go there by my motorbike. Phnom Srorng locates in Kampong Speu province, we can either travel by nation road no. 3, when arrived Tram Kna market, turn right and follow the route straightly to Phnom Srorng. Phnom Srorng is not a tourist site but rather a religious site. At the foot of mountain there is a pagoda which was built since the 1950s called ‘Wat Srorng Ang Snor’. The Viheara (main sanctuary) was built in the ancient architecture, though the building is old, but it’s very attractive of its style. The pagoda ground is very large, it made me feel very relax with such a real nature environment. Phnom Srorng is not visited by common people, but most people who know about the important of the place. Most visitors are businessmen and people with high ranking in the government. It’s well known as a sacred place for praying, as if Phnom Srorng is a place of holy spirits. Almost every construction there are built as subjects of paying gratitude by people who their praying were succeed. Visiting Phnom Srorng is a great adventure to the countryside of Cambodia. Full the space are green field of rice paddy and vegetables plantation. We can find out about the farming activities and get some photos if we want to. The view of mountain surrounding is truly natural, very quiet. It’s best place for people would like to rest mentally or practicing meditation. On the flank of Phnom Srorng there are two medium buildings named Prasat Meas (Gold Temple) and Prasat Prak (Silver Temple) and many small buildings so called as ‘shrine’ with many statues. I feel something strange about the constructions there, which are not common to other places I’ve ever seen.
